Projects/Alpha Course
About
The Alpha course is designed primarily for people who aren't churchgoers and each course is open to everyone who would like to attend.
People find out about the Alpha course in a number of ways - a recommendation from a friend, a poster, flyer, newspaper article or advert, or through the website or an internet search.
Guests attend for a wide variety of reasons - some want to investigate whether God exists, others are concerned about what happens after death. Some people have particular questions that they would like to discuss; others want to understand other peoples' beliefs or would like to explore what the purpose of life is.
Case Study
Whitehouse Presbyterian Church is a family friendly community church in Newtownabbey and has been running the Alpha Course now for a few years. Each course has grown through recommendations and leaflets.
However we thought this is a fantastic course, that would appeal to anyone. It clearly needed more awareness and interaction from interested particapants. So we developed the website www.askjesus.me.uk in a response to the billboard campaign "If God did exist what would you ask?"
The plan is for people to see a billboard or leaflet and submit their question, find out more information on the course and then register their interest.
