About
Irwin’s Bakery is Northern Ireland’s largest independent bakery, with over 450 employees, baking over 1 million loaves weekly. They distribute their produce across Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and Great Britain. Many of their customers buy their baked goods through the supermarkets, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, Somerfield, Safeway and Morrisons. As specialists in different types of bread including soda breads, potato farls, cakes and biscuits they are constantly launching new products.
Case Study
The McCaldin’s brand represents Irish bread products, competing with similar baked goods that also project a traditional Irish identity.
Our solution was to redesign the McCaldin’s Premium Sliced Loaf to reflect the traditional heritage of Irish bread making, using wax-wrap paper instead of film packaging.
Irwin’s also wanted to develop the O’Neill’s brand through German retailer, Aldi. The brand was to become a tool for competing with inexpensive traditional Irish bread in their supermarkets, throughout the Republic of Ireland.
